What are Third Party Apps on Twitter?
Twitter provides a utility to its users in the form of Third Party Apps. These are not owned by Twitter and are developed by external developers. On connecting such apps to your Twitter account, you grant them several permissions. These permissions may allow the apps to view your account information such as your followers and the ones you follow, your tweets, and even tweet on your behalf. These apps may pose a security threat to your account by extracting and lending out your critical information. However, Twitter provides a way to block these third party apps.
Removing Third Party Access
Follow the given steps to block third party access to your Twitter account:
- Go to the main page of your Twitter account.
- Navigate to Apps in the Settings section of your account.
- You will see a list of all the apps that have permission to access your account. To remove access permission of any app, just click on the Revoke Access button on its right.
This will remove the app from accessing your account.
